Context and Purpose: A friend and I decided to make a challenge for ourselves, which was to create a character using only the colors and theme of a picture we found on the internet. She gave me a purple monochrome picture of roses for my half of the challenge.

Subject: A lineless painting of a landscape

Media: CSP and a Surface Pro

Context and Purpose: I wanted to at least have a landscape painting for my portfolio. It hadn’t come out as I originally planned, but I was still proud of it in the end.

Subject: The Pledge, The Turn, The Prestige

Media:
CSP and a Surface Pro

Context and Purpose: In my Creativity class, we had watched the film “The Prestige” and we had to make a presentation based on it. My role in the project was to supply the pictures, so I created this to show off the three parts to a performance.

Subject: Semi-Realistic Painting of a Girl

Media: CSP and a Surface Pro

Context and Purpose: I wanted to try to do a lineless, semi-realistic painting for the first time, so I tried to do something simple. It ended up not so simple, but it definitely came out a little better than expected without a reference.

Subject: A Fallen Angel

Media: CSP and a Surface Pro

Context and Purpose: I felt like doing something dramatic, so I decided to do this piece. It was one of my first attempts at trying something new with digital painting and I had been very proud about how the face turned out.

Subject: Angel Character Concept Page

Media: CSP and a Surface Pro

Context and Purpose: I have plans for a web comic based around angels and demons, so I wanted to come up with possible angel designs while practicing drawing wings, trying to figure out which style of wings work best.

Subject: A RainWorld Fan-Iterator and Her Pets

Media: CSP and a Surface Pro

Context and Purpose: When I was into RainWorld, I had created some fan-characters and wanted to draw each of them. This one was 7 White Feathers, and I had wanted to play around with the shading and lighting a bit.

Subject: Hero Children from Books and a Comic

Media: CSP and a Surface Pro

Context and Purpose: After I discovered a certain webcomic called The Property of Hate, I couldn’t help but think of some other children’s stories that also had similar themes, with metaphors and concepts becoming literal and alive. With that thought in mind, I felt like I just had to draw all of the characters that came to mind. (Left to right: Alice and the White Rabbit from “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland,” Dorothy and Toto from “The Wizard of Oz,” Milo and Tock from “The Phantom Tollbooth,” Hero and Asock from “The Property of Hate.”)

Subject: Ayano Ijama, my BNHA Fan-Character

Media:
CSP and a Surface Pro

Context and Purpose: I wanted to make some BNHA fan-characters, and Ijima had been one of them. I had wanted a character who embraces my artistic side with their powers, which is of course inspired by finger painting and also those videos where people paint or draw in VR with a green screen, so it looks like they’re drawing in the air around them. When creating this reference sheet, I also took advantage and used this to practice hand gestures, using my own hands as reference while I drew.

Subject: A Cover for Lord of the Flies

Media:
A Wacom tablet, Omen PC, CSP

Context and Purpose: In 11th grade English class, we had to make a cover for Lord of the Flies. I had thought that Simon had been one of the best characters in the book, but he had been one of the victims of the island, so I thought it would be good symbolism to show him fading away in a cloud of flies.

Subject: Paper Child Figure of Troll!Munino

Media: Cardstock, Sakura gelly roll pen, Uchida Marvy Le Plume markers

Context and Purpose: On a Homestuck Amino, I decided to take part in a paper child contest and created some of a couple favorite fan characters of mine. In the end, I won first place. but only got one of the two promised prizes, as the person who made the contest left the Amino before giving me the second prize. Still, I rather liked this specific picture I took of one of the paper children, so I wasn’t too upset.

Subject: Columbus Accidently Finding America Comic

Media: CSP, HP laptop, Wacom Tablet

Context and Purpose: During Freshman year of high school, I had to make a comic for my history class related to Christopher Columbus.

Subject: Tiny the Scavenger

Media: CSP and a Surface Pro

Context and Purpose: When I was active on a RainWorld Amino, I wanted to try and draw the in-game Scavengers since I thought that they were so interesting. While I was trying to figure out how to draw them, I created this young Scavenger, Tiny, and used him to practice showing emotion with a character that lacks a visible mouth. Scavengers were, and still are, incredibly fun to draw because of their uniqueness.

Subject: Underwater Mew

Media:
CSP and a Surface Pro

Context and Purpose: I felt like drawing Mew from Pokemon, but I also wanted to practice shading and painting on my program.

Subject: The Tortoise and the Droid

Media: CSP and a Surface Pro

Context and Purpose: For the past year or so, I have been planning and working on concepts for a video game idea I had that was based on myths, legends, folklore and fables with a touch of sci-fi mixed with fantasy. I have just recently began designing the enemies that the player would face when one of my doodles seemed like a good sketch for a more detailed, action piece. For this one, I really tried my best to add depth and good lighting, trying new techniques and tips that I found not too long ago.
